The Islamic Social Services Association, Inc. (ISSA-USA) envisions a spiritually and culturally competent social service and mental health network that ensures the highest quality of life possible for every individual, family, and community.
ISSA-USA aims to provide support to social service and health professionals through education, training, and services. ISSA is an organization that also helps Muslims to set up and successfully provide social services within their own communities, rather than running these services for communities. This approach helps to empower local Muslims in providing help to their communities. ISSA acts as a national link and resource between these smaller community-based organizations. ISSA is a unique organization since it is not a social service provider, but rather an organization that serves as a network for addressing the social service concerns of Muslims.
"Pretty Fire" follows one woman’s struggle to find her voice in a small suburb of New York during the Civil Rights era. This tumultuous time displayed all the trails and tribulations that face us on our journey though the injustices of being a minority. Whether a female, an immigrant, a convert or a person of color, inequality in America is a part of our history. It is Women's History. It is Black History. It is Muslim History. We are all one. This is our story.
